AUwhere Dean is a 1st grade teacher who is close with all of his students, especially with Hael. She’s a little short for her age, but she always comes in with her hair braided, and a pastel colored dress, eager to learn. Now and then she’d tell Dean what a great father he’d make, which only makes him more upset when she comes to him sobbing one day, telling him that she walked in on her dad crying the night before, and that he’s lonely.
Wanting to see what’s going on, Dean calls Cas in for a parent - teacher conference, learning that Cas is a single father, working as a waiter at some slum restaurant that he can barely pay his bills with, and he’s close to putting Hael up for adoption, not wanting her to have to live on the streets with him.
After a few more meetings, in school and out, Dean makes arrangements for Cas to move in with him, promising him a better paying job and a place to stay until he gets his financial issues settled. But, they end up falling in love before Dean can find Cas a place to go when he’s ready to move out.
